Obake

Another piece from my mini-animation series.
Inspired from Japanese myth and folklore, Obake is a preternatural creature which unlike the supernatural, its existence is presumed to have rational explanations. Literally means as "a thing that changes", it is believed to be one of the temporary transformations of a deceased person. Its capabilities were beyond humans but still finite and lesser than the Divine.

Popularly being portrayed as a one-eyed ghost, carrying a lantern as its comical depiction, this gruesome superstitious character became easily acceptable and eye-catching to people especially children.
